In December 2019, the discovery of the Covid-19 virus brought the world to a standstill, leaving a trail of long-lasting consequences on many industries, the art ecosystem notwithstanding. In March 2020, Malaysia announced the Movement Control Order (MCO) in a bid of curbing the spread of the pandemic, For many artists, the lockdown order has been restrictive but also doubled up as an opportunity for a potential boost of creative juice.

As we adjust to a new reality, we opened up our social media channels for artists to showcase their creative version of the ‘new normal’ and demonstrate how art can help people to cope in these dark times.

Afi Sulaiman, Afiq Sebari, Amy Syahkilla, Anugerah Gee, Firdauz Baharudin, Ivan Gabriel, Jack Yong, Justina Lee Bee Sim, Kara Yong, Peisy Ting, Previta Karthigesu, Lim Yaner, Sanker Ganesh and Wan Zeti Fadhlina were amongst the artists featured in the #NewNormal digital exhibition.
