If you ever needed a reason to visit an art gallery, or looking to do something a little out of the box with your special person this Valentine’s Day, why not consecrate your romance with a little scroll in an art gallery?
From 10 February to 8 March, visit ZHAN Art | Space to experience LOVE IS IN THE AIR, a curated group exhibition featuring artworks by three female Malaysian artists – miniature artist Fariza Basri, illustrator Ng Wei Li and visual artist Nadia Nizamudin.
Fariza’s collection of 21 miniature paintings, collectively themed “Secrets”, is inspired by the spirit of love and celebrates beautiful relationships and memories. We may do our utmost to keep our best intentions secrets, but oftentimes, they unravel at the most unexpected moments.
With an umbrella theme, “Love is a Dance”, Wei Li’s 18 artworks depict love as a partnership with different rhythm and tempos – sometimes you get it right, sometimes the relationship is abrupt, confusing, even fleeting. In taking a less than conventional route, she invites viewers to take a pause on what it means to love another.
Lastly, Nadia fuses embroidery, textile painting and mixed media to celebrate the ever familiar boy-meets-girl tale of love and loss, joy and sorrow. The 12 pieces that make up “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is both exploration of the simple everyday moments and things that are amplified when you fall in love, but also, homage to all the men who have indirectly or directly played a part in the artist’s own journey of understanding love and loss.
Love is in the Air runs from 10 February to 8 March 2020. Prices for the artworks start from RM260.
