Transcendence

Peisy Ting’s first solo show, Transcendence – A Visual Exploration of Self, explores the boundaries of introspection, reflection, and emotion in its purest abstraction, providing viewers with a multi-layered visual odyssey by wielding bold colours and composition enabling a visceral sensory experience encompassing joy and sorrow; strength and vulnerability; conflict and peace.

Showing at ZHAN Art | Space from August 3 to September 27, Transcendence is inspired by the dramatic events of recent months. Isolation became the norm, while uncertainty produced fear and anxiety. The new reality shifted the previous normalcy and complacency we were so accustomed to such that we questioned the state of our minds.

Peisy’s approach to every empty canvas is within the realm of endless possibilities longing to escape her inner-self, taking her on another aesthetic adventure to the unknown. A mission to render the invisible visible that may pierce the viewer’s subconscious to challenge their emotions and question what they see, leading them to see beyond the artwork itself and the one who created it. ‘To see through it is to transcend it,’ not only aptly applies to my art, but life itself.

After more than a decade as an Art Director, Peisy Ting sought to break free from the excessive hours and stressful advertising lifestyle to pursue an artistic path. After much trepidation, in 2015, she took a heartfelt leap to establish herself as an artist.

Graduating with a BA (Hons) in Visual Communications from Birmingham City University (BCU), UK, Peisy did not receive any formal training in fine art but has always possessed the raw passion for colours, forms, and beauty. Her evocative paintings explore the boundaries of thought and emotion in its purest abstraction, providing viewers with a multi-layered visual experience, establishing a connection on both emotional and intellectual plain which serves as a guide as to who she is.

Peisy’s art has been displayed in shows in London and Bangkok as she continues to explore and develop, seeking to give a voice to the panoply of human experience and emotions.
